“What is all this stuff?”

Not too long ago, we had parents in your place.  Since things can be very confusing, here are definitions and things that go on in Zeta Tau Alpha.  Don’t be overwhelmed, just ask questions.  Every parent has been there and some point or another.

Anti-Formal (AKA: Semi-formal): The opposite of Formal.  This is a night of fun and dancing with your sisters. Anti-Formal themes in the past have been “80’s”, “Harleys and Honeys,” or “Mardi Gras.”

Badge Attire: Consists of business attire.  At each Chapter meeting, each member will be asked to wear “badge attire.” We dress as though you were going to a job interview.  In doing this ZTA is preparing your daughter for the world outside of college where dressing in nice clothing every day for a job is required.  All questions regarding proper badge attire should be directed towards the Ritual Chair, Kelsey Haas.

Big Sister/ Little Sister Program:  A big sister is someone who will help to guide your daughter through her time in ZTA.  Her Big Sis will be revealed at the end of Big Sis/Lil Sis Week, which includes a special ceremony.

Dues:  Money paid to the Chapter for expenses.  See the Treasurer, Renee Talmon for more information.

FRED: Fraternity Education.  This is a required part of ZTA.  This allows your daughter to learn more about Zeta and our beautiful history.

Initiation Service: The founding principles of ZTA and a ritual that makes ZTA different from everyone else.  All of the secrets will be revealed to your daughter at Initiation.

Legacy: The relative of an initiated member in good standing.  Direct legacies are daughters or sisters, while an Indirect legacy is any relative.
